Our School

Mission Valley Elementary serves over 800 students. In spite of our large student population, we make certain that each of our students is provided with individual attention, develops socially and academically, and never feels lost in the shuffle.

Our staff, parents, and students all work together to support learning and growth at all grade levels. Having grades K-6 in our school presents multiple opportunities for our younger students to have positive role models and for our older students to shine as mentors.

Technology

Our school utilizes technology in many ways. We recognize that in addition to teaching the traditional 3 R’s (reading, writing, and arithmetic), our students also must develop 21st century skills such as critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration.

We use our computer pods, tablets, laptops, interactive boards, projectors, and even smart phones as tools and resources to assist our students in their growth. We also use various software that aligns with our curriculum and textbooks. We embrace technology as instrumental in our students’ learning. It engages our students from K-6 (and our staff, too!).

School-Parent-Student Compact

Our students, parents, and staff have our ducks in a row! In order to make sure that we are all working together and know what our responsibilities are, our students, staff, and parents sign a compact each year. Our compact is a reminder of the importance of working together and remaining consistent throughout the school year.

Our students pledge to display some important behaviors, such as demonstrating respect and doing their best on their school work. Our staff echoes those promises with a focus on communication and providing classrooms that are conducive to learning. Our parents pledge to be involved and active in their child’s education. When each of us does his and her part, we set the stage for a productive and fun-filled year.
